
Facts about HIV / AIDS in the Republic of Macedonia in the period 1987 – 2014 (11/28/2014)
The data below show the total situation of HIV / AIDS disease in R. Macedonia.
The first HIV case in R. Macedonia was registered in 1987.
First person with AIDS was registered in 1989.
The first death from AIDS in R. Macedonia was registered in 1989.
Current situation of HIV / AIDS in 2014
In 2014 in Macedonia registered 39 new cases of HIV / AIDS.
- Distribution of persons with HIV / AIDS in 2014
– 16 people are infected with AIDS, 23 people are HIV positive.
- In 2014 registered 3 deaths from AIDS.
- Structure half of people with HIV / AIDS in 2014 .:
– 37 people are male, and 2 person is female.
- Place of living of persons with HIV / AIDS in 2014 are:
– Skopje, 20 persons, Sv. Nikole 2, 3 Kumanovo, Tetovo 1 1 Strumica, Stip 3 4 persons Kavadarci 2 Prilep 2 and 1 person is a foreigner.
- Age groups of people with HIV / AIDS in 2014 are:
– From 10 to 19 years, 2 persons
– 20 – 29 years 16 persons
– From 30-39 years, 14 people
– From 40-49 years 3 people
– Over 60 years 4 person.
- Method of transmission of HIV among people with HIV / AIDS in 2014:
– In 10 persons heterosexual route of transmission of HIV
– 25 people is through sexual contact from male to male (MSM)
– In 3 persons unknown mode of transmission
– The one person who injected drugs – LKID.
The situation with HIV / AIDS in R. Macedonia obtained on the basis of the epidemiological data, the period 1987-2014 (11/28/2014)
In the period 1987 – 2014, a total of 236 registered people are living with HIV / AIDS.
The distribution by age groups of people living with HIV / AIDS shows that:
– 0-6 years attend for 5 persons
– 7-14 years attend one person
– 15-19 years attend for 5 persons
– 20-29 years attend for 70 persons
– 30-39 years attend for 93 persons
– 40-49 years attend for 35 persons
– 50-59 years attend for 20 persons
– 60+ years attend for 7 persons.
According to the method of transmission of HIV, stated that:
among 114 persons obtained data on heterosexual contact in transmission of HIV;
93 people had sexual contact among men (MSM);
12 people were intravenous drug use (injecting drug – LKID);
6 people were hemophiliacs;
6 people registered HIV transmission from mother to fetus;
For five parties is obtained information about the mode of transmission of HIV.
The distribution by sex of persons living with HIV / AIDS, shows that of the total (236 people), 189 people are male, while 47 people are female.
All cases of HIV / AIDS in R. Macedonia are registered in 25 municipalities.
Most of them are registered in Skopje> 108 people, 23 from Tetovo, Kumanovo 14 10 Prilep, Ohrid and Kicevo 9 8 persons. In these six municipalities are registered a total of 172 people living with HIV / AIDS and 75% of all registered cases in the country.
The total number of registered cases from abroad is 10 people.
As of 01 December 2014 in the Republic Macedonia 75 people died from AIDS.
In the country there is total number of 160 people who have AIDS and 76 who are HIV positive.
In Macedonia, in 2013, are made 24 562 tests for diagnosis of HIV.
