On December 20, 2017 Ass. Director Shaban Memeti and Prof. Dr. Lothar H. Wieler signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of Public Health of Macedonia and the Robert Koch Institute from Germany, which is one of the leading institutions in the field of prevention and response to infectious diseases.
This important document establishes bilateral cooperation in education and scientific cooperation in the field of epidemiology of infectious diseases, surveillance of diseases and epidemics surveys, implementation of the International Health Regulations, strengthening laboratory capacities. The cooperation is not limited to these two institutions, but also the experts from the Centers for Public Health are envisaged through appropriate trainings.
The period of cooperation with the Robert Koch Institute is by 2020 and it is expected through it to significantly strengthen the country’s capacities for prevention and response to infectious diseases.
This memorandum of cooperation is another proof of the continued efforts of the Public Health Institute to promote the state of public health in Macedonia.
