From 28th to 30th October 2015 in Malta held a consultation of the European Region of WHO in relation to the Commission’s report on tackling obesity among children. The Commission was established by WHO General Director, Dr Margaret Chan and comprised 15 eminent scientists and persons with impressive biographies which left a strong mark in the world with their scientific and social activity. The task of the Commission to produce a report that will examine, summarize and combine approaches and interventions that are most effective in the management of obesity in children and adolescents in various contexts worldwide.
Consultations with the countries of WHO Europe were last of all WHO regions. The review report with observations and suggestions for improvement, on behalf of the Republic of Macedonia, was given by Dr. Igor Spiroski from the Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Macedonia, in the role of National Associate of the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the WHO in the areas of “Nutrition” and “Non-communicable diseases.”
The final report of the Commission, after all consultations are expected to be announced shortly.
