On the occasion of Earth Day 2016, the pupils in first grade of elementary school “Rajko Zinzifov” from Dracevo, Skopje, with the responsible teacher Tatyana Trpeska, have visited the Institute of Public Health. The pupils visited laboratory where analyzes of water safety which determine the quality and safety of drinking water were presented. Showing interest, under control of Ing. techn. Svetlana Toshevska, they performed analysis, admiring the results of their first research activity. It was held a brief lecture about the importance of water safety and other environmental media in general.
At the end of the visit, the Institute received a valuable gift, made by the crafty little hands of children – drawings on the theme “Earth Day 2016 ‘.
The Earth Day – April 22, was marked for the first time in 1970 in the US, and since 1992, worldwide. Today, it is marked around the 175 countries worldwide, including the Republic of Macedonia. The aim is to raise awareness and knowledge of preserving and improving the environment, and to indicate the consequences of water, air, soil pollution and energy depletion.
