During the 13th week of 2018 (26.03.2018 – 01.04.2018), the Republic of Macedonia registered 386 influenza cases/flu-like diseases(I=18.7/100.000).
Compared with the number of registered cases in the last week, are increased for 44%(chart 1)and increased for 7 times compared with the cases of the last season.

Regarding the distribution of patients by age groups, the largest number of cases this week have been reported in the age group of 15-64 years (234 cases) and the highest incidence is registered in the age group, from 5-14 years. (I=27.7/100.000)
This week the biggest number of influenza cases is registered in Strumica, n= 63 and also, the highest incidence is registered in Makedonski Brod (I = 98.2/ 100.000).
From 31 reporting units, Sveti Nikole registered medium activity of the influenza virus, while other units- registered low to very low activity, 4 units didn’t registered any cases

In the 2017/2018 season, the total number of influenza like illness (ILI) cases is 23483 (I = 1134.9/ 100.000).Compared with the previous season (34849cases), the number has decreased for 1/3 .
This season the biggest number of influenza cases is registered in Gostivar-2341, Skopje-3091, Strumica-2297, with the highest incindence in Kavadarci (I=3736.6 /100 000).
Regarding the distribution of patients by age groups, the largest number of cases this season have been reported in the age group of 15-64 years, 14285 cases (60.8%) and the highest incidence is registered in the age group of 5-14 years. (I=2047.1/100 000).
The analysis of the number of seasonal flu cases per month indicates a gradual increase in the number of patients in January (2,396 patients or 10.2%) and a peak in February (12,951 or 55.2%). In march, are registered 7054 or 30%.
During this week the laboratory for virology of IPH has received 9 samples, materials for laboratory diagnostics. 4 samples(44.4%) are positive for the presence of influenza virus, subtyped as: 3 are Influenza B (1 Yamagata, and 2 non-subtyped), and 1 is Influenza A of which (1 А(H1N1)pdm09),
Since the beginning of the season 2017/2018, the laboratory received 460 materials, of which, 239 are positive (52%) for the presence of the influenza virus, 69.5% Influenza B (88.6% Yamagata, 4.8% Victoria and 6.6% non-subtyped.) and 30.5% Influenza A (of which 80.8% are A(H1N1)pdm09 and 19.2% are non sub-typed.)
