Information about the activity performed in Division for Testing of Items for Common Use

The Division for Testing of Items for Common Use is of great importance, because it is the only separate department and accredited of its kind in RNM.

In this Division, examinations of the health correctness of:

  1. materials and products intended to come into contact with food products, which must meet general and special conditions, so that they do not affect the quality and safety of food and do not endanger the health of consumers;
  2. examinations of the health correctness of materials and products intended to come into contact with skin and mucous membranes;
  3. as well as examination of the safety and health correctness of children's toys.

The tests are performed in accordance with the existing national legislation, which refers to items for general use and children's toys, as well as the latest EU Regulations and Directives.

Among the parameters that are tested on individual types of objects are:

  1. complete migration of non-volatile substances,
  2. specific migration of metals,
  3. specific migration of a sum of primary aromatic amines,
  4. color discharge in test solution and
  5. testing of mechanical and physical properties of children's toys.

The Division performs tests according to the following division of items for general use (from import and domestic production):

  1. dishes and accessories for food (glass, ceramics, wood, paper, metal, enamel);
  2. food packaging;
  3. children's toys;
  4. personal hygiene products;
  5. household hygiene products;
  6. utensils for small children and infants;
  7. plastic granules;
  8. machine parts and
  9. package.

 

Measures and activities under the competence of the Division for Testing of Items for Common Use

The Division is accredited according to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for the following methods:

1. "Determination of migration of metals (lead and cadmium) from ceramic objects according to Directive 84/500/EEC and Fig. Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 1/2013 (20130010005);

2. Determination of the specific migration of a sum of primary aromatic amines from objects made of plastic", according to "Amtliche Sammlung von Untersuchungsverfahren nach§35 LMBG L00.00-6;

3. Determination of migration of heavy metals (lead, cadmium and chromium) from children's toys made of different materials according to EN 71-3:2019;

4. Determination of migration of metals (lead and cadmium) in glass containers, which are filled, according to ISO 7086:2020 – 1.2.
