Strengthening preparedness: Institute of Public Health participates in radiation safety exercise
On April 24, 2026, a field exercise was successfully conducted at the Tabanovce border crossing, organized by the Directorate for radiation safety. The exercise aimed to enhance national preparedness and inter-institutional coordination in responding to potential radiological threats, as well as to identify unknown sources of ionizing radiation.
Physicists from the Department of radiation protection at the Institute of Public Health actively participated in the exercise, contributing with expert theoretical insights and practical implementation through the simulation of real-life scenarios. Through this integrated approach, participants had the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills for rapid, coordinated, and effective response in the field.
Representatives from the Border police, the Customs Administration, RZ (Mines and Ironworks) -Technical Control, and Biotek were also involved in the exercise, ensuring a multi-institutional approach and further strengthening mutual cooperation.
This type of activity represents a significant step toward improving national preparedness and safety in the field of radiation protection.
